Valve's Proton Experimental changelog, dated 2026-10-02, added a line for early 32-bit OpenXR support. This lets older Windows VR games compiled as 32-bit executables find a runtime under Proton at all, and it requires enabling PROTON_USE_WOW64.

OpenAI plans to add an invisible watermark to ChatGPT and Codex text in the European Union over the coming weeks. However, its own evaluation found that synonym swaps reduce detection: replacing 10% of words in a 400-token passage cut detection from about 92% to 66%, and 25% swaps cut it to 17%.

Pimax has announced its next major VR headset, the Crystal Pro, priced at $1,400 and positioned to compete with Steam Frame. Apple says it will add new controls to Full Disk Access on macOS—the permission that lets an app read everything on a Mac—and names AI agents as a reason. The company said it will introduce additional controls so that only users who genuinely wish to grant an app this extraordinary level of access can do so; the quoted statement is truncated in the source.

Six researchers report that a VR scene generation system which carries users' previous corrections forward cut the average number of fixes a user had to make from 8.52 to 5.62. The result was measured across a 42-person study, and the researchers say they have published it.

OpenAI's MCP Extensions enables developers to hook their plugins into key surfaces of the ChatGPT user experience. Plugins can now take a panel, a sidebar entry or a file viewer of their own instead of only answering in chat, and Canva, Figma and Adobe have already shipped one each.

The third-party iPhone app OpenGlasses, which runs a non-Meta AI on Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses, has rebranded as Avenkin. Intel's release notes for Arc graphics driver 32.0.101.9034 add Game On support for Gears of War: E-Day on Arc B-series and A-series GPUs and on Core Ultra processors with built-in Arc graphics, while also logging the game as a known issue on three of the covered product families.

OpenAI has given ChatGPT a way to react to something happening in another company's app instead of waiting to be asked. The MCP Events feature lets ChatGPT subscribe to updates from a plugin's MCP server, such as new messages, content updates, or status changes, and the specification it is built on has not been finished, according to the report.

An unofficial Windows XP driver has added installer entries for Nvidia's Maxwell and Pascal desktop cards, up to and including the GTX 1080 Ti and TITAN Xp. Its author states these are INF additions, not individual validation of every model, and has verified one card.

Microsoft says Gears of War: E-Day will be the first game to support Advanced Shader Delivery across its expanded range of Windows hardware, handing a PC precompiled shaders with the game download instead of building them at first launch. AMD and Qualcomm GPUs are covered today, with Nvidia and Intel to follow later.
